The 2nd destination of my culinary trip was Vietnam. My plan was to taste both the authentic and the modern Vietnamese food. Authentic to understand how it is originally done. Modern to see how to use the basics in an innovative way. So I have eaten on the street for $1 as well as fancy restaurants for $50. And I cannot tell you which of the two I liked better.

Vietnamese food is often grilled or fried, before being wrapped in ricepaper, Boston lettuce, a bunch of fresh herbs and dipped in a variety of sauces. In that manner I ate (lots of) fresh springrolls with grilled beef and cilantro, grilled beef on lemon grass, ground shrimp on sugar cane, traditional springrolls with pork and shrimp and much, much more. Wrap & roll baby!

Now there is one more place to go before I head back home: Japan!
